A single live-edge top carried on one central trestle, its feet angled out to brace the span and give the table a light, almost sculptural footing. The slab keeps its natural edge; the base wedges together and pulls the whole table tight. My most expressive dining table — a quiet centrepiece in a smaller room.

The classic: two matched trestle ends joined by a single stretcher, wedged together and knocked flat in minutes. Calm and symmetrical, steady enough to work at and generous enough for a dinner — and it breaks down for the next apartment without a fight.

A table that splits the difference — a solid panel at one end, an open trestle at the other — joined by a stretcher whose tusk tenon you can watch lock through the panel. One side grounded, one side light, under a thick live-edge top in walnut or cherry.
